Work With Gaines!
There are a few openings at the L.A. Weekly for various positions. They're going through a merger, but you would have the opportunity to see me much more often. E-mail me if you're interested: cbengaines@lycos.com.

Photo Contest!!! -145 Days to Vegas-
Hey Friends,
Scan in any awesome State News pics you have from the olden days and send them to me at mhudson@edmunds.com. The best and the brightest will be posted. We'll do an online poll and pick the Top 5 closer to the reunion date and award some cash prizes.
Cheers,
Berl

Presto Says: Homecoming Buzz!
Sorry, I know we're supposed to be posting to the blog now, but it won't open up on my computer here for some reason ... just got Perry's e-mail about seeing the new State News building on Homecoming day, which reminded me of Jan's inquiry ... I think I'm going to be EL for homecoming, depending on the homework load I have that weekend. Anyone else? Touring the building with some other old timers will beat touring it by myself! Has anyone seen it yet? (I saw what I could see of it from the street a few weeks before school started ...) From what I've heard from people who've already been there it's pretty darn sweet.

So, should we give Craig a kudo for coming up with the memory-invoking name of this here blog, or does he deserve the Viking this week?

The Viking Award...now that's a good feature idea. I'm gonna put my thinking cap on...

Somewhere, amid the myriad of State News trinkets and nostalgia at my mom's house, I believe I have some actual Viking Award photos. Though I think CMac has the Machniak one. Imagine what that would fetch on eBay.

I've just thought about it, and y'all (Mike, Becky, Gaines) should receive the Viking this week for getting this whole thing in motion ... and then an individual kudo to Craig as well. Those are my nominations.

Hope Baase isn't on the voting list or I won't get mine.

Welcome to Fun
Howdy Gang. I'm Amanda Clapp. Welcome!
And with that you can all just start killing each other in the comments section. Please hammer away. We'll do it like this...
Mike will paste in any interesting starting points that you douches come up with and then you can all swing away!
Let's start with Katie's attack on Solari. I believe Cook got hit, too.
PS--From time to time, we might even have something of relevance up. No promises. Suggestions? Write to Gaines or Hud.
Go Rage!!!

To Solari.
I just happen to glance over the email you sent out with your description of Joe. For someone who lives in South Dakota, you've got some balls. There are many things I could throw in your face right now but I don't want you to cry. (Everyone knows that's Kimmerly's job.) There's no need for such harshness toward someone who is constantly sticking up for you.
To Jamie Cook.
Although I know you'd take great pleasure in proving me wrong, (going back to Brody when you said you HATED the State News after I joined the staff and that you would NEVER work there...) A platypus is a mammel and a marsupial. Thanks, though.
XOXO,
Katie Rexrode
